HELPING

VETERANS

Rodney Hornes the Assistant Executive Director and Co-Founder is a retired Military Veteran who served 26 years in the United States Army. Therefore he saw first hand the dramatic and devastating effects that the war can have on veterans when they return home. The absence of family assistance, a bad economy, alcoholism, drug abuse, post traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury and other illnesses can lead to homelessness. While on active duty Rodney was attending a conference where three veterans of the Iraq war were giving their testimony. Each one had been injured, one was missing part of his leg, another missing one of her hands and the third soldier whom to the naked eye looked perfectly normal but he had a traumatic brain injury. He was the last soldier to give his testimony and upon completion there was not a dry eye in the building. He was like a little kid talking to you. After the conference the idea of VHV was born. Our goal is to stamp out veteran homelessness one veteran at a time.me.
